School Ramblings: SKULL CHAINZ

SKULL CHAINZ IS SOME EXTREME SHIT BY CHAOCLYPSE WHERE YOU BASH DEMONS IN WITH SKULLS AND IT’S TOTALLY RADICAL

Okay, serious mode, SKULL CHAINZ is “A FUCKING VIDEO GAME” in the page’s own words where you play as two skulls attached to each other with a chain. You pick one up and the other becomes a flail that you smash enemies with. There’s a big skull and a small one attached to each other with a chain – pick one up and the other becomes a flail. Obviously the big skull has a bigger hitbox, but the small skull seems to be faster as a flail, whereas playing as the small skull gives a smaller hitbox and a bigger flail that seems slower to swing, so there’s advantages to picking who to play as and who to swing. You move your skull around with the mouse, swinging the brother skull around and letting go of the mouse button pauses the game.

The score’s based on how long you’ve survived. The benefit of killing enemies – besides, you know, staying alive longer – is that some of them will drop white souls. Collecting enough lets you pick an upgrade of sorts, which will help out as more enemies that require more hits start showing up. Honestly, the only flaw I’ve had with this game is that the upgrades aren’t explained, but they still manage to be useful in different ways, like a turret that helps take down enemies and the ability to make dead enemies ricochet around.

Pinks, reds and blacks dominate the game as you swing, things bursting satisfyingly. Dark yet energetic music plays to keep spirits high as you die over and over during the pursuit to get a better score. The good ol’ energetic ultraviolence presentation.

SKULL CHAINZ is really fun?? This shit’s sincerely rad, play it. In fact, there’s actually an Android version and this seems pretty well-suited for mobile… and it’s free too? No in-app ads either?? Like damn, I’d honestly pay for this.
